Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Student (Summer 2017)
“During the summer of 2017, I worked as a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) student at the Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). I worked on several projects with Dr. Aditya Belwadi as a mentor. These ranged from product design focus groups to driving simulator data analysis, with the majority of my time spent preparing manuscripts to be submitted to peer-reviewed journals and compiling data in MATLAB.
I also had a side project with Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. Elliot Greenberg and an embedded systems lab at the University of Pennsylvania, where we worked on developing a wearable device for tracking youth baseball players’ physical workload.
I am a rising sophomore at Vanderbilt University, where I study Mechanical Engineering and Research Biomechanics. I am excited to be taking technical writing, design, and analysis skills back to school with me. I plan on pursuing a graduate degree in Engineering following graduation, and I know that the professional connections I made both at CHOP and Penn will be valuable down the road.”
