"My experience with the CIRP Research Experiences for Undergraduates program was incredibly valuable, both academically and personally. Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to be involved in many different aspects of the research process, from analysis to interpreting results and presenting my work. I especially appreciated being able to take ownership of my project while still having the support and guidance of my mentors and the CIRP community. One of the most valuable parts of the experience was seeing how research can directly address real-world problems and potentially improve people’s lives. Working on a project focused on adolescents returning to driving after ACL reconstruction allowed me to combine my interests in biomechanics, injury, and human movement while exploring an area I had never worked in before. This experience also helped me become more confident as a researcher and gave me a much better understanding of what a career in research can look like. It strengthened my interest in pursuing graduate school and a career in biomechanics and rehabilitation research. I am extremely grateful for the mentorship, opportunities, and connections I gained through CIRP, and I know that what I learned this summer will continue to influence my academic and career goals. I also made great friends with the other interns, and we had a very fun summer together."
