Research Experiences for Undergraduates Student (Summer 2024)
"Throughout my time with the Neuroscience of Driving Research team, I gained a lot of experience contributing to a longitudinal randomized control study focused on teen driver safety, specifically in the data collection process. I gained hands-on experience in preparing for data collection by training and executing procedures such as using REDCap for survey management, as well as in administering virtual driving assessments and cognitive assessments for patients at CHOP primary care sites.
One of the highlights of my internship was undertaking an independent project, which allowed me to delve into R Studio for coding and data analysis. This experience was valuable in enhancing my technical skills and understanding data science. Beyond the technical aspects, I engaged in extensive career exploration throughout the summer. Shadowing professionals and conducting informational interviews solidified my decision to pursue a PhD and work in a hospital setting.
Overall, my summer in Philadelphia was incredible. The combination of practical experience, professional development, and personal growth made this internship a standout experience, and I would gladly relive the entire summer if given the chance."
