Injury Research Intern (Summer 2015)
"During the summer of 2015, I worked with the Post-injury Care and Recovery team at the Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) under the mentorship of Dr. Meghan Marsac, Dr. Nancy Kassam-Adams, and Kristen Kohser. My time at CIRP allowed me to gain research skills while assisting with projects, such as a web-based intervention for children post injury.
With the research skills I gained and the wonderful mentorship Dr. Marsac provided, I was able to test my own hypothesis and create an abstract examining the interrelationships between socioeconomic status, parental encouragement of social support, and post traumatic stress symptoms in children post injury. I presented this work in the Spring of 2016 at the Society of Behavioral Medicine's Annual Meeting. The skills and mentorship I gained while at CHOP has been invaluable, as it has motivated me to want to continue a career in research. I am currently a senior at California State University San Marcos, and I will be graduating with a B.A. in Psychology this Spring. I will be continuing my research and will be applying to graduate schools in the fall. Thank you so much, CIRP!"
