As we cautiously navigate reopening youth sports in the face of COVID-19, it is critical that the well-being of kids and teens and safety from both infection and injury are top priorities.

PolicyLab at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is hosting a free virtual conversation entitled "Returning to Youth Sports Safely Amid COVID-19" for coaches, athletic and school administrators, athletic trainers, sports medicine pediatricians, and parents.

Sports medicine pediatricians and personnel from CHOP's Minds Matter Concussion Research team will join infectious disease experts to discuss why kids and teens should return to sports and how it can be done safely. Alongside developing COVID-19 insights and data, this discussion will be informed by CHOP's Return to Youth Sports Reference Guides.

Discussion Points:

  • Benefits of youth sports on children’s overall growth and development
  • Health and safety factors to consider before getting back on the field
  • Changes to implement to protect coaches and players
