Meet the Injury Science REU Class of 2025

I am incredibly excited to welcome my first class of interns for the Injury Science Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program as Training Manager! Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, this program offers a unique opportunity for undergraduates to engage in injury science across multiple disciplines within our Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) here at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Together with CIRP’s Director of Training, Thomas Seacrist, we aim to create a meaningful experience for each group of motivated and talented students from across the country.

For ten weeks each summer, our REU scholars experience hands-on research, receive mentorship from both principal investigators and peer mentors, attend sessions/events for educational programming, professional development, and networking opportunities.

Our REU scholars explore a wide range of topics in injury science, including:

  • Concussion and brain health
  • Injury rehabilitation and biomechanics engineering
  • Road traffic safety and crash prevention
  • Violence prevention
  • Young driver safety

Introducing the REU Class of 2025

This year’s REU students will collaborate on a variety of impactful projects in the injury science space. We’re excited to learn from their fresh perspectives as they develop valuable research and career skills, all while contributing to CIRP’s ongoing injury prevention efforts.
