Trends in Overdose Fatalities in American Youth

A study examining youth drug overdose fatalities found that between 2018 and 2022, deaths involving only synthetic opioids saw the largest increase. Since 2020, these deaths have surpassed polydrug overdose deaths across all racial, ethnic, and gender groups.

A recent study exploring support for firearm policies among Black American firearm owners found that support for most firearm policies was high, regardless of whether the study participants had children at home. The only statistically significant difference was in support for temporary firearm removal by law enforcement, which was notably lower among owners with children (65%) compared to those without (85%).
