A lot can happen in less than a year. With decreasing COVID-19 case counts, low transmission rates of the virus at CHOP, and high vaccine rates (due to CHOP’s vaccine requirement), we were cautiously optimistic about being able to host our Injury Science Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program on site in Philadelphia in 2022. By the time we had chosen this year’s class of students in March, we were given the green light to proceed as planned.
This is good news since our REU program not only offers mentorship (from both peer mentors and principal investigators) and hands-on research experience in the fields of engineering, behavioral science, and epidemiology, but also provides networking opportunities, educational programming, and the chance to explore our exciting city of neighborhoods and culture.
