Over the past 20 years, Laura Vega, DSW, LCSW has worked extensively with youth and families in a variety of youth and family-service settings. She has worked in child welfare agencies, behavioral health, community outreach, and hospital-based social work. She currently serves as the Manager of Clinical Program Operations for the CHOP Violence Intervention Program. Dr. Vega has extensive training in trauma-informed practice, which infuses her work and is trained in the Sanctuary Model, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI).
Dr. Vega has worked exclusively with assault-injured youth and their families over the last seven years. She has provided ongoing leadership in establishing the CHOP Violence Intervention Program policies and procedures as well as supervision, training, and consultation to hospital staff and students. Her research interests are in organizational support to address secondary traumatic stress.
