Last week, CHOP's Violence Prevention Initiative (VPI) hosted a webinar: "Human Trafficking In Adolescents: Understanding the Issues as a Service Provider". The two hour session defines human trafficking and other related terms, identifies signs that a patient/ client may be a trafficked youth, identifies root causes of trafficking and transactional sex, explores the role and responsibilities of social workers, and identifies resources to assist patients/ clients who are victims of trafficking
The webinar is presented by Erica Smith, MEd, Adolescent Case Manager for the Adolescent Initiative at CHOP and the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center, and Jasmine Oglesby, MSW, Prevention Case Manager for the Adolescent Initiative at CHOP. The moderator is Marné Castillo, PhD, MEd, Research Scientist in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at CHOP and VPI Fellow.
