New Resource Alert: Get Road Ready Guide for Teen Drivers
Share

Summer is right around the corner, and with it comes a big milestone for many teens: learning to drive. To support families during this exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) time, CHOP has released a new resource called Get Road Ready.

This guide is designed with parents and caregivers in mind. It offers practical tips and expert advice to help families navigate the process of teaching a teen to drive—from the very first conversation to supervised driving practice and beyond. The guide includes information about:

  • How teen brain development affects driving behavior
  • Safety tips for new drivers and how parents can help to lower crash risks
  • Step-by-step information on getting a learner’s permit and driver’s license in PA and NJ
  • Our virtual driving assessment: A way to test your teen’s skills and their crash risk

We encourage sharing this resource with families when a teen begins thinking about driving. It’s filled with actionable steps and supportive strategies that empower parents to take an active role in their teen’s driving experience.
