Today, we honor the victims and survivors of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
In the 11 years that have passed since the tragedy, multiple organizations across the country intensified their efforts to protect children from gun violence. These efforts, as shared in our blog post from a year ago today, led to the formation of entities such as Moms Demand Action, a grassroots movement that is part of Everytown for Gun Safety. Here at CHOP, we created the Center for Violence Prevention (CVP) with an aim to reduce exposure-to and impact of violence on youth and their families. CVP conducts community-based research and implements evidence-based programs. Gun violence prevention requires a multi-faceted approach. Through these collective efforts across the nation, we can work together to protect the health and well-being of children and families.
