Recently, experts from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP) Sports Medicine and Performance Center, Division of Infectious Diseases, PolicyLab, and Minds Matter Concussion Research Program collaborated to develop a set of state-of-the-science recommendations for the return to youth sports after the COVID-19 shutdown.
These guidelines aim to provide strategies to reduce the risk. However, it is important to note that it is not possible to eliminate the risk of the spread of COVID-19 between players, coaches, and families.
This guidance is complementary to the existing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to support families when making decisions about their child’s return to sports.
