Yansy Salmerón is a Clinical Research Assistant for the Center for Violence Prevention, working primarily on a study that examines an intervention to reduce post-traumatic stress symptoms in children who have been violently injured.
Yansy Salmerón joined the Center for Violence Prevention (CVP) as a Clinical Research Assistant II in September of 2019. As a member of CVP, Yansy works with Dr. Joel Fein and Dr. Rachel Myers to find best practices to help reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress on youth who have experienced assault-related injuries.
Before joining CVP, Yansy served as the 6th grade math teacher at KIPP Courage College Preparatory in Houston, TX. At KIPP, Yansy worked to prioritize student and family voices in the school system’s decision-making process. She served as the Grade Level Chair for the 6th grade team and enacted restorative justice practices to encourage the growth, healing, and social-emotional learning of her students.
